Burden of treatment, emotion work and parental burnout of mothers to children with or without special needs: A pilot study

Abstract The psychological phenomenon of Parental Burnout (PB) results from an imbalance between continuous exposure to chronic parenting stress and available coping resources. study’s aim was examine relationships mothers’ perceived burden treatment PB, their ability utilize emotion work (EW) as a resource. Ninety-eight Israeli mothers (46 had children with special needs disabilities—W-SND, 52 without needs—WO-SN) completed questionnaires assessing perception treatment, EW PB. According the findings, W-SND reported significantly higher deeper than WO-SN. Additionally, among all mothers, positive significant correlation found while W-SND, correlations were deep EW, These findings suggest that PB is related performing EW. Additional psychological, cultural environmental factors should be investigated, in order gain new perspectives regarding affects mechanisms for generally especially.
